Horizon Smokers 3 Inch Smoker Thermometer Review

The first time I used this in my new smoker I also used a digital probe thermometer just for comparison.The Horizon thermo read low by 75 degrees.No worries though, there's a calibration screw on the back of the dial (although there are no instructions with it to let you know this!), so I calibrated it using boiling water.Now it's accurate between about 200 and 250 degrees which is where I'm usually aiming for, but for lower or higher temperature ranges it's still off by about 50 degrees.It's usable, but I expected better performance for the price.Oh, and by the way, don't be fooled by the Horizon website - yes it's an American company, but stamped prominently on the back of the thermo: "Made in China".Surprise, surprise!
